वीर्य — VĪRYA

The path of spiritual courage

VĪRYA: The path of spiritual courage

Vīrya means strength, courage, and spiritual vigour. It is the inner strength that sustains us on the spiritual path and gives us the courage to continue walking it.

Every path in life asks something of us. Whether in our relationships, work, purpose, or spiritual practice, we are continually invited to make choices, remain devoted to what matters most, and continue moving in the direction of our highest purpose. Vīrya is the strength that allows us to keep showing up, even when the path requires courage, even when it feels hard, even when the path is unclear or feels uncertain.

In yoga, Vīrya is cultivated through consistent practice. Each time we come back to our sādhanā, steady the mind, and direct our energy towards our highest purpose, we strengthen this quality within ourselves.

This month we work with Udana Vayu, the ascending force of prana. As this energy is cultivated, it uplifts the body and our mind, cultivating more purpose, expression, and the inner strength to continue walking our path with courage.

"It is better to perform one's own dharma imperfectly than to perform another's dharma perfectly. It is better to die in one's own dharma; another's dharma is dangerous." —Lord Krishna
Bhagavad Gītā 3.35

Your dharma is your sacred duty.

Each of us is born with unique gifts, qualities, and potential. These are not random, they are expressions of our dharma and clues that guide us towards the life we are here to live.

In the Bhagavad Gita, Krishna reminds Arjuna that it is better to fulfill our own dharma, even imperfectly, than to live the path of another. We each have a unique role to play, and our greatest fulfillment comes from honouring the path that is ours.

Yoga gives us the opportunity to know ourselves more deeply. As our awareness expands, we begin to recognise our natural strengths, our purpose, and the qualities we are here to express.

Walking this path requires Vīrya. It requires the strength to trust our gifts, the courage to express them, and the determination to continue living our dharma each day.

Body Full of Light Practice

This practice gathers energy at the navel and awakens the luminous quality of awareness within the body.

As energy integrates, presence becomes brighter and more steady. The body begins to feel alive, clear, and illuminated from within. This practice cultivates Tejas, the inner brilliance that reveals itself when awareness and energy move as one.
Practice everyday throughout the month. Use the sadhana checklist as your guide.

Supporting Practice

Viparita Karani

Viparita Karani supports the cultivation of Tejas by helping clear heaviness from the body and allowing energy to circulate more freely. With the legs elevated the body feels lighter and more luminous.

I do this every morning and every even for 15 minutes each time

Your Monthly Oracle Message

The Ananda card represents the pure, blissful state of being that arises when we align with our true nature. It invites you to experience divine fulfillment, transcending worldly desires, and tapping into the eternal joy within. Ananda is a deep, unshakeable joy from realizing your connection to the divine. This card calls you to cultivate joy as your way of being, remembering that bliss resides within you, not outside.

Reflective Practice:
Where am I seeking external fulfillment, and how can I cultivate deeper inner joy?

Practical Exercise:
Take a moment to sit in stillness and connect with your breath. Feel the sensation of joy rising from your heart, envisioning it as a radiant light. Imagine this light spreading throughout your body, filling every cell with vitality and divine fulfillment. Allow this moment of joy as light to deepen your connection with yourself and the present moment.

A playlist to carry the essence of Tejas into your day. Intended for moments outside of practice, to accompany journaling or any space where you feel inspired (not during your main practice).

You're invited to reach out anytime throughout the month with questions or reflections related to your practice. I'm here to support you on your journey toward inner radiance and growth.
