The fire of transformation

AGNIJĀTA: The fire of transformation.
The shift inside shifts the outside.

January is the lighting of inner fire through the union of Ha and Ṭha. Ha represents the solar current, the vital force of prana. Ṭha represents the lunar current, the calming and stabilising force of the mind. Through deliberately bringing these two energies together at the navel, we create HAṬHA { to strike }, the fire at the navel. This fire is known as Rudrāṇī, the inner fire that initiates transformation { kundalini activated at the navel }.
From this fire, something new is born { Agnijāta means born of fire }.

This month is the systematic activation of Rudrani at the navel. As the inner heat builds, it begins to work through the lower chakras, melting heaviness, fear, karma, the lower mind, and the old patterns that keep energy bound. What has been dormant starts to move and what has been stuck starts to release and transform.

Starting the new year powerful, determined and transformed!

Moon, Sun, Fire — HAṬHA

This is the science of managing and mastering your own energy.

Moon (Ida Nadi, Ṭha): Represents the cooling, lunar energy and is a code for the mind. This is apana vayu located at the base.

Sun (Pingala Nadi, HA): Represents the warming, solar energy, focusing on building and managing prana (life force). This is pran vayu located in the chest.

Fire (Sushumna Nadi, HAṬHA): Represents the central channel running along the spine and the energies at the navel. When the lunar and solar energies (mind and prana) are balanced and unified, the fire can ignite at the navel, activating Kundalini Shakti (Rudrani). This process is known as burning through limitations, the lower mind, and achieving self-realization { illumination }.

Supporting Practices

These supporting practices help you become more sensitized to your prana and energetic body, and learn how to build and contain prana. The qualities needed to awaken inner fire safely.

We use the bandhas in this months practice, if you aren’t familiar with the bandhas or didn’t do December sādanā, please watch the video in December ‘Learning the Bandhas’. You will need to know this for the following two videos.

Rudrani Kriya Practice

Rudrani Kriya is a focused practice that builds inner heat at the navel through the conscious gathering of energy. Brining together Pran vayu and Apana vayu together at the navel, this kriya strengthens will, dissolves dense energy and supports the disciplined awakening of power held steady in the body. This is an advanced practice as must have pranic and subtle body sensitivity, alongside mental power, to guide your energy. Please watch ‘Learning The Bandhas’ linked above first, if you aren’t familiar with them.

Maha Mudra Practice

This is the most effective and quickest way to move prana into Shushumna (the central channel) and is considered to be the most supreme mudra (that’s why it’s ‘maha’). Best done on an empty stomach. Use props if you need, as a straight spine is a must. Please watch Rudrani kriya and Learning The Bandhas first.

The Fire of Transformation Practice

Your core practice for this month is all about the awakening of inner fire born through the union of Ha and Ṭha.
This advanced practice brings lunar steadiness and solar vitality together at the navel to ignite the sacred Haṭha fire. Through deliberate breath, bandha, and focused awareness, inner heat is cultivated to awaken Rudrani, directing energy with strength, clarity, and purpose.

Practice everyday throughout the month. Use the sadhana checklist as your guide.

Supporting Practices

This pranayama offers supreme balance to the nervous system and mind. Please use if you are feeling over stimulated from your core practice.

Your Monthly Oracle Message

Sahasrara, the crown chakra, is the gateway to spiritual enlightenment and connection to the divine. It is where you experience unity with the cosmos, transcending the individual self. This energy center links you to higher consciousness, offering profound peace and an understanding of your place in the universe. When in balance, Sahasrara brings a deep sense of interconnectedness, serenity, and spiritual clarity. When out of balance, it can lead to feelings of disconnection, confusion, or a lack of purpose. This card invites you to open yourself to the divine, to the infinite wisdom of the universe. It encourages you to surrender to the flow of cosmic energy and trust in your connection to Source. By cultivating stillness and surrendering the ego, you align with the highest truth and experience moments of transcendence.

Reflective Practice:
How can I deepen my connection to the divine and embrace the flow of cosmic consciousness in my life?

Practical Exercise:
Sit comfortably with your spine straight and body relaxed. Close your eyes and bring your awareness to the Crown Chakra at the top of your head.

Invoke a deity, higher power, or universal consciousness that resonates with you. With each breath, invite this energy to fill you and open your connection to higher consciousness.

Inhale, silently chant a mantra or prayer, and with each exhale, offer gratitude and surrender to the wisdom flowing through you. Feel the connection between your individual self and the divine, expanding into oneness with all.

Continue for several minutes, allowing your thoughts to settle and your heart to open in trust and devotion.
